Gifts of Love

July 12, 2009

” Its not the things you do at Christmas time but the Christmas things you do all year through” No doubt you know those words from the song ‘Secret of Christmas.’ We sing these words once a year and we agree with them and live them in the month of December. Come January and we are back to our old, forgetful self and its business as usual.

It is as though we pack away love, goodwill and the spirit of giving in the same box with the Christmas tree and decorations. Because that is all that it was, a decoration of our behaviour. The smell of the Christmas goodies, the festive decorations at the Malls, the infectious Christmas music and the concerts has programmed us to put on our Christmas behaviour and we get in the spirit of joy, of love, of giving, of spending.

The question is, can we maintain this when all the Christmas props are removed? Ask yourself  ‘Have I carried the spirit of love and goodwill and the spirit of giving throughout the year? We dont have to wait on an occasion to give, nor to experience joy and a feeling of good will toward others.

That is why ICIT celebrates Christmas in July. This session is placed in the middle of the year to remind all those who slacked off after Christmas. We give you a booster shot and remind you of what you should be doing on a daily basis. We sing carols, we exchange gifts, and we refresh ourselves with physical and spiritual Christmas goodies.

Come and join us at ICIT on July 12th at 5-7 pm. Bring a gift to exchange and bring a friend. Let your conscience be your guide as you select the gift. Don’t worry about whether it shoud be a male or female gift, choose the gift with love and you will be alright.

                                                        August 2, 2009

Every year Trinidadicarol-joseph-speaker-of-the-day-20083ans celebrate  Emancipation Day on 1st August.   On this public holiday we   commemorate   August 1, 1838  when slaves  were emancipated in the British colonised Caribbean islands.

There is the big African cultural event and also the parade / procession in the streets of  Port Of Spain. People are  in their African finery and strut about tall and proud like African royalty.

At ICIT we choose to be part of this celebration annually.  This year will be no different. We will will be meeting at our centre in St Augustine on August 2, 2009 for a grand time. Join us as we too come together in our African finery for an evening of fun and enlightenment.

Carol Joseph (in photo above), B.A. Dip.Ed, M. Ed. history teacher and lecturer at University of Trinidad and Tobago will deliver the feature message for that day. The theme is ‘Emancipate yourself from mental slavery’

Yes, we will be singing our Bob Marley theme song ‘Redemption Song’

Yes, we will be having drummers

Yes, we will be having our usual competition for best African male and female outfit outfit.

So come on down and bring some friends with you and learn how you can live a life of mental, emotional and spiritual freedom. Free from stress, limitation and lack.

ICIT’S EASTER CELEBRATION BREAKFAST 12.4.09

The celebration was held at 7.30 am at the ICIT facility.  The place was alive with celebratory music which put us ineaster_lily-764560 a receptive frame of mind to receive the Easter Sunday message from Rev. Cheryl.

Her message was ‘You too Can Have A Resurrection.’ She gave us a step by step approach to experiencing a resurrection. After the session the celebration continued with great fellowship as we broke bread together.

If you attended this session please let us know what your experience was like.
